Transport Canberra has teamed up with the Australian War Memorial to offer free transport from the Dawn Service and the Veterans’ March this Anzac Day (25 April).
Encouraging people to register, Transport Canberra said registering to ride would provide peace of mind to attendees, “knowing that your bus travel to either the Dawn Service or the Veterans’ March is arranged.”
“It also allows Transport Canberra to effectively manage customer demand for bus services and ensures that bus resources are used efficiently,” the Directorate said.
“As Anzac Day is a public holiday, Transport Canberra buses and light rail will be operating on a public holiday timetable and frequency,” it said.
“Free travel on all Transport Canberra bus and light rail services will also be provided to those wearing or displaying war service medals service throughout the whole day.”
Transport Canberra said medal holders were still required to register to ride to the Anzac Day ceremonies, to assist the Directorate in gauging expected attendance.
It said buses for the Dawn Service would depart from major bus stations at Gungahlin, Belconnen, Woden, Tuggeranong and the City.
It said loop shuttle buses would run for the Dawn Service and Veterans’ March from Russell Offices and the Canberra Centre.
“To book over the phone please call our Customer Service Team on 13 17 10,” it said.
“All charter services will be wheelchair accessible.”
