Footy fans are being urged to plan ahead and stay vigilant to ensure everyone remains COVID Safe during the upcoming seasons’ finals.
Transport for NSW said stadiums were now able to increase crowds from 25 per cent to 50 per cent capacity, provided a detailed COVID Action Plan had been provided.
Chief Operations Officer at Transport for NSW, Howard Collins said the decision, based on NSW Health advice, was a positive outcome for footy fans and major events in the State.
“Safely allowing more fans at the upcoming NRL finals will bring enjoyment, employment and will help stimulate the NSW economy, but keeping customers safe is of utmost importance,” Mr Collins said.
“We are ensuring there are plenty of safe and efficient options to get people moving throughout our State during footy finals,” he said.
“Those attending games are expected to wear a mask when they are not sitting at their seat.”
Mr Collins said this included walking to and from designated seats, using stadium facilities and on public transport when getting to and from the venue.
“We still require physical distancing on our public transport services and we will have regular train, bus, and light rail services running for games played at ANZ, Penrith, the SCG and Bankwest Stadiums,” he said.
“If you are able to, we urge you to drive, walk, cycle or catch a taxi or uber to see your team play in an effort to reduce numbers on public transport.”
Mr Collins asked fans to abide by the road rules, pre-plan their parking and allow extra travel time.
