Director: Bradley Walsh, Via Vision Entertainment.
Cast: Brooke Shields, Brennan Elliott, Beau Bridges.
Based on the best-selling novels by Kate Collins, this much-loved Hallmark Channel series follows ex-lawyer, Abby Knight (Shields), the owner of Bloomers Flower Shop, who ends up investigating a series of murders.
Each DVD has three, self-contained movies in the collection.
The three films are: Mum’s the Word (2016), Snipped in the Bud (2016), Dearly Depotted (2016). Shields (Blue Lagoon, Endless Love, Suddenly Susan) gives a reasonable performance as a crime buff.
In the first story, someone damages Knight’s car after fleeing a murder scene – on the day of her flower shop opening. She soon meets a charming bar/restaurant owner Marco Salvare (Elliott, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb) and partners with him in the search for answers. Bridges (The Fabulous Baker Boys, Norma Rae) plays her father, Jeffrey Knight.
In Mum’s the Word, Knight is the proud owner of her hometown flower shop, but a new low-cost competitor is killing her profits and a black SUV just rammed her vintage Corvette in a hit-and-run. She’s determined to track down the driver, but when the trail turns deadly, the next flower arrangement might be for her own funeral.
Snipped in the Bud: when a bouquet from her shop is found at the murder scene of a professor and former courtroom adversary of Abby Knight, a former attorney-turned-small-town-florist, she finds herself as the main suspect.
Dearly Depotted: a reluctant bridesmaid at her drama queen cousin’s wedding, Abby ends up not just doing the flowers, but also finding out who murdered a wedding crasher.
