Two South Australian Public Servants have been honoured at the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) National Conference, awarded as 2021 National Fellows
In a statement, IPAA SA congratulated Chief Executive of the Attorney General’s Department, Caroline Mealor (pictured left) and Executive Director, Cabinet Office of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Ruth Ambler (pictured right) on receiving the Institute’s highest accolade.
IPAA SA said Ms Mealor was highly committed to the reform of the criminal justice system and had led significant reform in this area.
“In addition, she has led South Australia’s involvement in the National Redress Scheme and coordinated the State’s response to both the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability,” it said.
IPAA SA said Ms Ambler had led the implementation of the Boarding Call database which made it easier for South Australians to join one of the 200 Government boards.
It said Ms Ambler had also made a significant positive impact on Reconciliation action within South Australia, taking a leading role in the Reconciliation Action Plan 2020-23.
IPAA said Fellowship recognised the achievements and commitments to the best practice of public administration by members of the Institute, as well their contributions to its goals.
It said IPAA’s National Fellows were those members who had been recognised as having made outstanding contributions to Public Service and to IPAA.
“Nominations for National Fellows are made annually by IPAA Division Presidents and assessed by a sub-committee of the IPAA National Council,” the Institute said.
“New Fellows are announced by the IPAA National President at a dinner function preceding the IPAA National Conference.
“Once awarded, National Fellows are entitled to use the postnominal FIPAA.”
