The first stage of Sydney’s Tech Precinct at Central Station and improved rail networks across NSW are part of the latest tranche of possible projects to be included in the State’s Planning System Acceleration Program.

Announced by the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Rob Stokes, 13 new projects have been added to the acceleration program, with the potential to create more than 8,400 job opportunities.

“This latest tranche of projects could enable the next step in Central Sydney’s technology transformation as well as major revamps for the Kensington to Kingsford light rail corridor, a billion-dollar renewal of Blacktown CBD and a new over-station development at the future Crows Nest Metro Station,” Mr Stokes said.

“Improved freight rail capacity for south Sydney and Port Botany, the Narrabri to North Star section of the Inland Rail, a new educational facility in Campbelltown and a Cricket NSW Centre of Excellence at Sydney Olympic Park also make the list.”

He said the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment had selected projects that were able to commence construction within six months or where a development application could be lodged within six months.

“The same stringent checks, balances and community consultation that ensures transparency, public benefit and merit-based assessment of projects remain in place,” the Minister said.

A full list of the possible projects can be found at this PS News link with the Minister saying decisions would be made by 14 August.
