The NSW Office of Energy and Climate Change (OECC) has launched a pilot program offering home energy assessments to help residents in the Southern Tablelands identify energy cost savings and make their homes more comfortable.
Sustainability Director at OECC, Emily Yip said the Energy Efficient Retrofits pilot would provide a free $450 home energy assessment to up to 30 Goulburn residents.
“A qualified energy assessor will come to your home and rate your home’s energy use and comfort, and provide you with tailored recommendations for improvements,” Ms Yip said.
“These recommendations might include energy-efficient windows, air conditioning, hot water systems, pool filtration pumps, insulation, and draught proofing,” she said.
“This Energy Efficient Retrofits pilot project will help us learn more about the energy performance of existing houses and how energy assessments, ratings, finance and other support could encourage householders to incorporate energy efficiency into their home improvements.”
Ms Yip said the trial was open to homeowners in freestanding homes in the Goulburn local government area.
She said renters and those with homes in a strata scheme were not eligible for the offer as they would need landlord or strata scheme permission to implement any of the recommended upgrades.
