The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has launched a range of Emerging Talent Programs to attract young people to join the Australian Public Service as apprentices and cadets in a digital or technical career.
In a statement, DTA said one or more of its programs would suit young people who enjoyed pulling apart or building PCs, setting up home networks, building apps, finding trends in data, problem-solving, or improving digital services to make things simple.
DTA said all that was needed was a genuine interest in a digital or technology field.
“You don’t need a degree or any prior digital study for the Apprenticeship Program. You just need to be interested in digital tech and solving problems,” it said.
In return, successful applicants to the programs would get “a foot-in-the-door and a fantastic journey, full of learning opportunities and on-the-job experience”.
The DTA also said its Digital Cadetship Program would suit people studying a degree in a digital or technology-related field who would like to build on their knowledge by gaining the practical skills and experience related to their studies.
The Agency said the program offered career coaching and mentoring, flexible working arrangements, a competitive salary and superannuation, and dedicated, experienced professionals who would act as mentors.
“You will work with a wide range of technologies; get membership to the Australian Computing Society; attend professional networking events and access private training about emerging digital trends supported by permanent employment,” it said.
Applications close 12 July and can be made at this PS News link.
