The Department of Education has invited everyone in the State to join it in Education Week, running this week.
On its website the Department said that every student and every voice would be the focus for the 2,200 NSW public schools who were celebrating the week as they recognised their students and staff and the achievements of public education.
The Department said its 2019 Education Week videos showcased some of the ways student voices were being amplified in schools.
It said celebrations and events would be running throughout the week and advised those interested to ask schools or check their website to get involved.
The Department said it would be running several events, one of which was this year’s Game Changer Challenge commencing today (6 August).
It said the three-day event involved 16 teams from schools across NSW working with department educators and industry partners to solve a complex real-world problem.
It announced that Secretary Mark Scott would moderate the student audience as the Game Changer Challenge asks some of Australia’s best tech minds the question ‘How might we humanise technology?’.
The Department said that during Education Week more than 40 NSW high school students would take over the Department’s Parramatta office in the Secretary for a Day program, giving students the opportunity to work with communication professionals and the Department’s business units to discuss 14 key projects.
