Some of the State’s most outstanding teachers, leaders, school services staff and schools feature in the finals of the WA Education Awards 2021.

Minister for Education and Training, Sue Ellery said the Awards acknowledged the inspiring role school staff played in shaping the lives of children in public schools, while recognising their hard work and innovation.

Ms Ellery said this year, there were two new categories recognising public school leaders — WA Primary Deputy Principal of the Year and WA Secondary Deputy Principal of the Year.

She said a total of 52 finalists in 13 categories had been recognised — from Dawul Remote Community School 110 kilometres south of Kununurra, to Cape Naturaliste College in the South West.

Ms Ellery said winners, to be announced at a presentation breakfast in Term 4, would share in total prize money of $402,500, with a portion to be spent on professional development.

The Minister said she was pleased the Awards could recognise the outstanding work being done every day in public schools in Western Australia.

“I’m pleased we can celebrate excellence in public education this year and the dedication of our staff to providing students with the best opportunities to reach their potential,” she said.

“Congratulations to all our finalists.

“I look forward to thanking them all for their contribution to education at the presentation breakfast next term,” Ms Ellery said.
