The language of economics is enough to make one glaze over and wonder more about what’s for dinner.
Governments love it, we can’t grasp it and forward estimates are enough to make us realise they’re very good at the imagined state of the economy in the future.
But come ‘budget’ time it’s the banter of the supposed experts and lots of switching off by us.
But here we go again and the girls gave it a good airing as their pre-budget Women in Economics Network speaking for and against budgetry machinations of the current incumbents on Canberra’s hill.
Danielle Wood is the Budget Policy Program Director of the Grattan Institute, Nicki Hutley leads Deloitte Access Economics’ Urban Economics practice and Angela Jackson is currently a Senior Economic Consultant at Equity Economics.
All have formidable credentials and most importantly the ability to speak to the Women in Economics 2019/20 Federal Budget Perspectives with the language we who deal only with the day to day of balancing a budget wish the pollies would use.
So let these girls handle the whole shebang and let them follow the good old ‘KISS’ principle.
