The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has invited applications for its next round of data fellowships.
DTA said it was looking for high-performing people to step outside their day jobs and create prototypes that improved or completely redesigned approaches to real-life problems.
It said successful fellows would be placed with the data-innovation group, Data61 at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) for three months, full-time.
“Applicants will have an interest in building data skills within their Agency and a willingness to share their knowledge and expertise with colleagues,” DTA said.
It said former participants in the program had carried out a variety of data-related projects using a range of techniques.
One anonymous participant described the experience as “excellent.
“I met extremely talented people and was surprised at how helpful everybody was throughout the three months” the participant said.
DTA said people wishing to apply must have approval from their Agency’s data champion or a senior executive and be able to begin their project within three months.
It said applicants would be judged by a selection committee made up of people from the DTA and Data61 as well as the Chair of the Data Champions Network.
“There’s no cost to data fellows,” DTA said.
“Their Agencies continue to pay their salaries, superannuation and entitlements, and they will have any travel and accommodation costs reimbursed.”
Applications close 25 August and more information is available from DTA via email at [email protected].
