The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s 2020 Graduate Launch Program has ended after 45 graduates presented their group projects to a panel of judges.
The program was delivered online for the first time and graduates explored ideas that could help guide the State along its road to recovery.
Chief Financial Officer at the Department and a panellist, Mandy Taylor said the presentations were well researched and prepared.
“It was a pleasure to hear from all the graduates. They are an incredibly skilled cohort,” Ms Taylor said.
“Throughout the year, graduates were given the skills and tools needed to develop and maintain a successful career in the sector.”
One program graduate, Matt Gorman said that while he never had to move far from his desk, he felt no impact on his learning experience.
“The program really helped me find my bearings on the practices and expectations of working in the public sector,” Mr Gorman said.
The Graduate Launch Program provides career development opportunities to university graduates new to the public sector and is one of the initiatives run by the Public Service Commission that contributes to a future-fit, collaborative and diverse sector.
Applications for the next intake open in February.
