Have you ever wanted to sample a traditional Guatemala hibiscus drink or learn the chants and nursery rhymes of Italy?
Experience the culture and traditions of more than 15 countries as part of the Windows to the World event at Floriade.
The event offers a rare chance to explore Canberra’s embassies and high commissions, exploring art, crafts and activities designed to educate visitors about international cultures.
Economic Development Assistant Minister Tara Cheyne said the popular event was a window into Australia’s diversity and Canberra’s multicultural society.
“Windows to the World offers visitors an insight into cultures through exhibits, activities and performances, and a chance to experience a world within our city,” she said.
“This popular event provides a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate world cultures and the multicultural blend that contributes so richly to what it is to be Australian.”
Among the 26 embassies and high commissions opening their doors are the Botswana High Commission, the Royal Danish Embassy, the Embassy of the Republic of El Salvador and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Floriade visitors can get an early taste of the Windows to the World event on Saturday, 14 October, while the main event will be held on Saturday, 21 October, and Sunday, 22 October.
Various embassies and high commissions will be open on both days, so check the program for full dates and times.
