The Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business is set to launch a new digital careers platform to streamline and strengthen the delivery of careers information in Australia.

In a statement, the Department said the digital platform would aim to deliver better careers information to people searching, delivering and providing advice about careers — at all ages, and stages, of life.

The Department said the design of the digital platform would involve consultation with people at all points in their career journey.

Also consulted would be those who “influenced” careers – employers who provided careers and those who formally advised on careers.

“These consultations have begun through focus groups and in-depth, one-on-one interviews,” the Department said.

“Starting, changing or advancing your career can be both exciting and daunting,” the Department said.

The Department has also announced a Career Journey Survey, aimed at collecting information on the best way to help people plan or manage their careers.

“This survey will help us understand what type of careers information individuals need and want, what influences their decision-making and how and why they might want that information presented and delivered to them,” the Department said.
