Libraries ACT has announced the Dickson Library is to be closed until further notice while some building works are undertaken.

“The closure will allow rectification works to be safely and efficiently undertaken following damage recently identified due to wet weather,” Libraries ACT said.

“Return chutes at Dickson will also be closed.”

It said items should be returned to another branch, or renewed online.

“Libraries ACT apologises for any inconvenience caused,” it said.

“Alternative arrangements are being made for members of the community who have booked a community room at the Dickson Library.”

Libraries ACT said library members and visitors were encouraged to visit another branch, with the closest branches in Civic, Gungahlin and Belconnen.

It said all other branches would remain open and were operating according to their normal opening hours.

“Alternatively, library members can make use of all online services at www.library.act.gov.au, including searching, reserving and renewing items, as well as downloading eBooks, eAudio, digital magazines and music using their membership number and PIN,” Libraries ACT said.

It said inquiries about the Library could be made by calling 6205 9000 or visiting the website, www.library.act.gov.au.

Torrential rain in February brought flooding that caused the closure of the Dickson Library for a short period, among many other disruptions.
