- If you love seafood, then this one’s for you. Head to glorious Port Stephens for the month-long celebration of the fresh and delicious seafood festival that ends on 31 August. There are cooking demonstrations, tastings, signature dinners, seafood lunch and dinner specials, oyster tasting and shucking, educational talks, kids’ activities and much more.

Activities include a festival dinner, literary lunch, poetry slam, workshops, author talks, performances, panel discussions, writing competitions, children’s events and a wood-fired oven event by the river.
- The Australian Surf Festival is being held on the Tweed Coast until 27 August. Many prestigious Australian titles will be decided across multiple surfing disciplines joined to create a full surfing festival. The surfing disciplines include short board, longboard, loggers and body board. This is a ‘mobile surfing event’ to ensure the competition is hosted each day in the best waves.

Luggage tags protect belongings
It’s important for labels on your luggage to be clearly marked with your contact details for easy identification.
Labels serve a vital purpose so they should provide essential details including your name, mobile telephone number and an email address.
Mishaps, including lost or stolen luggage, can put a damper on a vacation or cause frustration on a business trip. It’s also frustrating if you or the authorities cannot identify whether a suitcase belongs to you.
It’s better to opt for tags that are bright and long-lasting. You can even personalise your bags with the help of Luggage Labels that stick on – and stay on!
As chief luggage labeller at Luggage Labels, Dr Warren Harmer describes himself as a “serial entrepreneur who is always on the lookout for new business ideas”.
“I came up with the idea for these luggage labels after an overseas trip a few years ago,” Dr Harmer said. “I was waiting at the baggage carousel, watching travellers as they waited for their luggage to arrive. What I saw intrigued me. Many would take their bag off, only to put it back on the carousel once they checked the label to see that it did not belong to them.”
“Others tied ribbons and bows to their case, a strategy that ultimately fails when everyone adds ribbons and bows to their luggage. There were even cases with A4 paper taped to them with hand-written name and address on the outside,” he said.
Personalise the labels
Why not make your luggage truly individual? Design your own label to make it simple to find and easy for it to find you. Send it through to Luggage Labels (via their website) and it’ll be printed and sent straight back to you, ready to stick.
These labels are tough, super-sticky and go on the outside of your luggage.
“There were a few contributing factors which led to the business name,” Dr Harmer elaborated. “As a new product, I wanted to own the niche by having the most obvious name and being the major brand. Also … Luggage Labels … it is very search engine friendly and rolls off the tongue quite well,” he said.
Early in his working life Dr Harmer did a PhD in chemistry. He has been in business for about two decades during which time he’s had a restaurant, an online business and currently The Business Plan Company.
As the chief business planner at The Business Plan Company, Dr Harmer says, “fast-growing and entrepreneurial businesses are my passion. I like to write business plans for them, grow them, advise them and write about them. My experience now spans more than 17 years, including three businesses of my own”.
Being industrious is effortless for him. Dr Harmer’s objective is to offer instructive, hands-on, ‘how to’ information to make business ownership easier, less stressful, more successful and, above all, more enjoyable.
