The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) has announced that the dates for next year’s 10-day NSW Seniors Festival will be from 25 March to 3 April.
Minister for Seniors, Natalie Ward said the event would build on a strong legacy of showing NSW seniors how much they were valued.
“The 2022 NSW Seniors Festival will deliver world-quality entertainment and engaging activities for our over 60s, with an important emphasis on COVID-Safe environments,” Mrs Ward said.
“This is the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and I’m urging our seniors to mark the dates in their calendars,” she said.
“It gives us something to look forward to during these times of uncertainty.”
Mrs Ward said planning was underway for the free Premier’s Gala Concerts and the NSW Seniors Festival Expo at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, along with the NSW Seniors Festival Comedy Show.
The Minister said that, like this year, the 2022 NSW Seniors Festival would be a mix of face-to-face and online entertainment and activities.
“We’re constantly evaluating the COVID situation in NSW and our planning for this event will evolve over coming months to ensure safety is the highest priority,” she said.
“The NSW Seniors Festival has been running successfully for more than 60 years and is a great way to promote inclusion and encourage older people to get involved in health, art, music, technology and physical activity.”
Mrs Ward said more than 500,000 seniors were expected to take part in events across the State and information on ticket release dates would be announced on the Festival website.
She said the Premier’s Gala Concerts were scheduled to be held on 30 and 31 March.
