Sport and Recreation Victoria has published a guidance for sports and recreation organisations as they prepare to return to activity as the Coronavirus limits are lifted.
The guidance notes have been issued separately for community sport and professional sport due to differences in COVID-19 restrictions between the two.
“We’re encouraging all Victorians to get out and get active, however it’s important you stick to the latest physical distancing restrictions to slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19),” the Agency said.
“Sports and recreation play a critical role in the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of Victorians,” it said.
“However, Victoria is under a State of Emergency and this must be balanced by with the risk of transmitting Coronavirus.”
The Agency said the easing of restrictions meant that a return to competition wasn’t possible yet but a return to safe outdoor sporting activity was.
It said the Victorian Chief Health Officer had approved that some community sport and recreation activities could resume according to new rules which aimed to maintain physical distancing.
It said high performance and professional sport could resume full training and competition provided the organisations had comprehensive risk management plans in place.
