COVID roadmap shows road to return

Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk has released a roadmap for the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions with two more stages to follow in June and July.

“I want to thank every Queenslander, whether you live up in the Torres Strait, down on the Gold Coast, in the outback or our coastal communities, everyone is stepping up and doing a great job,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“We know how important our hospitality, retail and tourism industries are, and people want certainty, so it’s a gradual return to some form of normality.”

She said the post COVID-19 era was going to look different — “but we’ll back each other and get through this together”.

She said she had been in contact with Mayors of outback towns.

“I have to acknowledge a different situation to the rest of Queensland because there are no quarantine cases in the outback,” the Premier said.

“We’ll remove a lot of restrictions over the next few months, which is good news.”

However, while this was being done “we need to be very, very cautious, and if anyone is unwell, it is important they stay away from work and immediately get tested.”

Ms Palaszczuk said that it was now possible for up to five members of one household to visit another household.
