COO Committee cooks up new newsletter

The Chief Operating Officers Committee, established earlier this year to promote an enterprise-wide approach to the operations and management of the Australian Public Service (APS), has launched a newsletter to aid it in its work.

In the first edition of Connecting Us, Chair of the COO Committee, Finance’s Katherine Jones says the newsletter was intended for all APS staff and would share stories of their successes and highlight useful resources.

“Operating on the ‘one APS’ principle, the COO Committee looks forward to sharing the progress and outcomes of our work with all APS staff, ” Ms Jones said.

“The APS is at the frontline of implementing the Government’s response to COVID-19 and it’s been a real privilege to chair the COO Committee through this period.”

She said the Committee’s role was to provide Government-wide coordination, progress business continuity planning and pivot the APS to provide the support communities and businesses most need now.

She said it was to do this “at the same time supporting and caring for our workforce across the APS as we respond to this great challenge.”

She said that shortly after its establishment, the COO Committee focussed on managing whole-of-APS operations relating to COVID-19, including planning ahead beyond the immediate crisis.

“As we adapt to our changed working arrangements, the need for the APS to connect, collaborate and communicate is more important – and challenging – than ever.

“I hope to share stories of the important work we are all doing in upcoming editions,” she said.

The 2-page first edition of the new newsletter can be accessed at this PS News link.
