Commuters armed with stylish signals

Adelaide Metro has launched a ‘call to arms’ for commuters to add some flair to the way they signal the city’s bus drivers.

Launching the campaign, Adelaide Metro said that as its bus drivers met hundreds of customers every day, it was calling on commuters to “step forward at the bus zone and show us your signal style”.

“Signalling the bus driver strongly helps them know you want to catch their bus,” the Agency said.

“This is particularly helpful when you are waiting at a stop where multiple buses arrive on different routes,” it said.

“Whether you’re like Sarah who gets in extra stretches on her daily commute to the gym, or Bec who busts out a Stayin’ Alive dance move to flag the bus driver, or Barbara and Pat on their girls’ day out – signalling the driver helps them see you.”

Adelaide Metro said looking up from a mobile phone, keeping an eye out for a bus and signalling the driver helps to be noticed and avoid accidentally being missed.

“We know there’s an urge to scroll through your social newsfeeds or check your personal emails while you are waiting at the bus stop, but you could risk missing your bus,” it said.

“Adelaide, next time you’re catching the bus, why not show us your signal style!” the Agency asked.
