A Committee of the Legislative Assembly has invited public submissions on the processes relating to Development Applications (DA) in the ACT.
The Standing Committee on Planning and Urban Renewal is inquiring into the engagement of citizens with DA processes and will accept contributions until 1 June.
Committee Chair, Caroline Le Couteur MLA (pictured) made the call for submissions, saying Canberra was a growing city and as each new construction project was subject to the DA process, the Committee had received increased levels of correspondence about that process and how it affected the community.
She said the terms of reference for the inquiry included an investigation of community engagement and participation, the availability and accessibility of current and historical DAs, and processing times for DAs.
Ms Le Couteur said written submissions should be lodged with the Committee Secretary by 1 June.
“The Committee prefers all submissions to be lodged in electronic form (Word format), although handwritten submissions are acceptable,” Ms Le Couteur said.
“All submissions, including those sent electronically, must include a name, an email address, a postal address and a telephone contact number.”
She said personal contact details would not be published.
Information about the inquiry, including how to lodge a submission, can be accessed on the Committee’s website at this PS News link.
