Key Loch are Australian production duo Damien Reilly and Justin Gross who have teamed up with vocalist Avery May Parker to release two outstanding singles, Where is The Love and Come Home To Me.
Both singles tell emotional stories and in the case of Come Home To Me the story revolves around a husband who has been sent off to war, leaving the wife pining for his safe return.
The story is particularly apt with Remembrance Day just around the corner.
The production is both lush and crisp, and Avery’s voice is gorgeous.
Apparently, Reilly and Gross were the songwriters behind ‘90s Aussie power rock band Southpaw.
I had to look them up at www.southpawmuzik.com because I had no recollection of them.
Their website has some good video clips and an impressive EP available.
It’s evident that these two chaps know their way around a recording studio and how to pen a catchy rock song, but they have really hit the jackpot with Avery May Parker.
Her performances on both tracks are excellent.
She has a voice that is dulcet and expressive, it’s sweet and soulful, but it also contains power and passion.
It seems that the Key Loch concept is for Reilly and Gross to write and produce the songs while employing the services of various singers.
I don’t know if these two tracks are the beginning of a longer-term relationship between the lads and Avery, but I suggest they keep writing for her because they are onto a good thing, and as the saying goes “when you’re on a good thing… stick to it.”
