Comcare has announced the publication of its latest Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for 2018 to 2020.
In a statement, Comcare said its vision for reconciliation was a culture that embraced unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.
“We will work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to positively influence the journey towards reconciliation in our community and promote a diverse and inclusive workplace at Comcare,” the statement said.
“We strive for a culture that represents equality and equity, historical acceptance of our shared history and removal of negative race relations.”
It said the RAP would be a guide for Comcare to build strong and mutually beneficial partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and to attract, develop and retain a diverse workforce that reflected the community it served.
It said the RAP would also promote employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and provide continuing career development for existing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.
“At Comcare, we strive for a culture that represents equality and equity, historical acceptance of our shared history and removal of negative race relations,” the statement said.
It noted that Comcare was a statutory authority established under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 which supported participation and productivity nationally through healthy and safe workplaces that minimised the impact of harm.
