Kermit the Frog sang ‘It’s not easy being green’, not to question his political identity but to explain how a little green frog could get lost in the surrounding greenness of leaves, trees and grass.
I saw Kermit in Tiffany’s (NY) years ago and have had a bit of a soft spot for green frogs for a long time with the rather companionable PNG green treefrogs among them.
So, The Greens were back at the National Press Club in Canberra for leader Richard Di Natale’s annual summation and state of the party address.
And while I remain apolitical, I can become apoplectic about some of today’s political posturing, but Senator Di Natale I like!
But to equate green with a political party is becoming a stretch in today’s multi-coloured, multi-faceted and multi-factional political landscape that ebbs and flows depending on elections, making it hard to separate the policies from the horse trading that today’s Senate resorts to.
So a ‘people’s bank’ sounds great. But …. and there are lots of buts ….. who will you trust as the bankers?
In the interim, put those panels on the roof, get onto the battery storage and double window glazing, spend the inheritance and campaign for clean, green choices.
We do know what’s right for this planet, this country and green frogs!
