The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is to introduce a new Click’n’Collect service for court documents next year to make it easier for legal representatives to access services online.
Attorney General, Mark Speakman said that from 1 January, legal practitioners, self-represented parties and the judiciary would be able to order, track and receive transcripts for their cases through the NSW Online Registry website.
Mr Speakman said transcripts of proceedings in almost all NSW courts and tribunals would be available through the new service.
“Accurate transcripts of court proceedings are central to safeguarding the legal system,” he said.
“We’re rolling out a simple, secure, digital platform that handles ordering, payments, tracking and delivery of transcripts in one location.
“The new streamlined Online Transcript Portal replaces myriad old processes where transcript applications were made by email, in person by pen and paper at court registries and even during proceedings.”
Mr Speakman said any party or legal representative in a case would be able to use the new online service to order a transcript; view progress of a transcript request; access completed transcripts; make payments online; and receive notifications.
The Attorney General said online ordering had been used by court registry and support services staff since July last year, with more than 20,000 transcription orders processed so far.
He said feedback from these users enabled more improvements to be made before the service went public.
Mr Speakman said NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) and Dust Diseases Tribunal transcripts would become available on the portal at a later date.
