City services changes respond to lockdown

Further changes to Canberra’s city services have been announced by the Transport Canberra and City Services Directorate in the face of the Territory’s continued lockdown.

The Directorate said rule changes were in effect for open recreational spaces, with barbecue areas remaining closed during the lockdown period, but outdoor playgrounds, skate parks, fitness stations and dog parks now open.

Check In CBR signage is now available at dog parks, district parks, skate parks and fitness stations,” the Directorate said.

“It is a requirement to use the Check In CBR app to check in if you are using these facilities,” it said.

“While there will be no requirement to check in at smaller playgrounds or mini skate ramps not displaying the Check In CBR QR codes, we encourage the community to wear a face mask, maintain good hand hygiene, keep your distance and stay home if you are feeling unwell.”

The Directorate said all sportsgrounds in the ACT remained closed for organised sports and should only be used for essential exercise.

It said changes to the operations of Gungahlin, Woden and Hall cemeteries were now in effect with 20 people able to attend funerals; Gungahlin crematorium to continue operating, at a capacity of eight people in the private viewing room; and Canberra Memorial Parks’ head office closed to the public.

The Directorate said Yarralumla Nursery was open by appointment only for wholesale customers, while the Territory’s Plant Issue Scheme was closed until further notice.
