The City of Adelaide is to expand its car parking app to show parking availability in the City of Unley and City of Marion.
Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Sandy Verschoor said the Park Adelaide App, launched in 2019, had been a helpful resource for city motorists, displaying real-time on-street parking availability and information while also processing payments and allowing motorists to monitor and extend their stay.
Ms Verschoor said the City of Adelaide had partnered with both Unley and Marion Councils to expand the app’s range across broader metropolitan Adelaide, using inground parking sensors supplied by Smart Parking.
“We know finding a park can often be a concern for those in our City, so having the one app, providing real-time availability across an increased area, will make it easier for motorists to make a day of it and travel around Adelaide,” she said.
“This is just the beginning, the City of Adelaide is open to working with other Councils to further expand the area covered by the app to provide a unified experience for all motorists.”
Ms Verschoor said the app also provided Council with valuable data and insights about parking demand and motorist behaviour to assist with future decision making.
Mayor of the City of Unley, Michael Hewitson said the app’s real-time technology removed uncertainty for motorists.
“We want to encourage people to our precincts and this app will assist drivers to make instant decisions about visitation,” Mr Hewitson said.
Mayor of Marion Council, Kris Hanna said the app would save time for motorists by directing them to the first available park.
The Park Adelaide App is available to download from the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
