Public Service Commissioner Emma Hogan has issued a PSC Circular setting out the Determinations of the Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Tribunal (SOORT) relating to the remuneration packages of NSW Public Service Senior Executives.

PSCC-2019-02 Increase in Executive Remuneration – Determinations of the Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Tribunal says the Tribunal has determined an increase of 2.5 per cent to remuneration packages provided to PS senior executives with effect from 1 July 2019.

The Circular says the increase was applicable to senior executives who were subject to the Chief and Senior Executive Service Determination.

“SOORT’s annual determination for PSSEs applies to executives to whom Division 4 of Part 4 of the Government Sector Employment Act 2013 (GSE Act) applies,” it says.

“Different remuneration packages apply to several senior executives named in the Determination.”

It says Human Resources (HR) and Payroll Administrators should refer to page 8 of the Determination for specific details.

“The NSW Government abolished the public service senior executive discretionary pay in the 2019-20 Budget from 1 July 2019.

“Accordingly, the discretionary remuneration ranges previously determined by SOORT no longer apply on and from 1 July 2019.”

It says the Determination was made under Part 3A of the Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Act 1975(SOOR Act) and applies to executives who continue to receive a remuneration package equivalent to what was received immediately before the repeal of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act 2002.

It says the SOORT determination does not affect existing Recruitment Allowances so employees in receipt of these allowances should continue to receive them.

The Circular says employees should contact their agency’s HR contacts in the first instance for further information and Agency HR contacts were able to contact the Public Service Commission with any enquiries.

The Commissioner’s Circular can be accessed at this PS News link.
