The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) has released a new Circular setting out a pay increase of 2.04 per cent for Crown employees.
In its Circular C2021-17Crown Employees Wages Staff (Rates of Pay) Award 2021, the DPC said the increase was for one year only and would apply from the first full pay period on or after 1 July of this year.
The Department said the Circular applied to all Agencies employing staff under the Crown Employees Wages Staff (Rates of Pay) Award 2021, which was made by the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) on 29 July (2021).
It said Agencies should process the adjustments to wages and allowances in accordance with the schedule attached to the Circular for employees who were employed from the beginning of the first full pay period.
It said wage related allowances, such as a first aid allowance, would increase by 2.04 per cent as well.
The Department said expense-related allowances, such as vehicle, meal and travel allowances, were in accordance with the Australian Taxation Officer Determination No. TD 2021/6, which set out the reasonable allowance amounts for the 2021-2022 financial year, or otherwise have been adjusted in accordance with the changes in the Sydney Consumer Price Index (CPI) March Quarter 2021.
It said annual wage rates were to be rounded to the nearest dollar, while weekly wage rates were to be rounded to the nearest 10 cents.
The Department said that where an award, agreement or determination specified the method or formula for calculating part-time or casual rates, Agencies should adjust the part-time or casual rate according to the formula, otherwise, the existing rate should be increased by 2.04 per cent.
