A new wellbeing app has rolled out across Canberra Health Services (CHS) to provide staff with access to resources so they can support their mental health and wellbeing.
Welcoming the Mayo Clinic Well-Being Index app, ACT Minister for Health, Rachel Stephen-Smith said it was one of the first initiatives chosen by CHS staff as part of the Territory’s Health Workforce Wellbeing and Recovery Fund.
“The app provides an opportunity for staff to check in and measure their own wellbeing and helps leadership teams to identify areas across Canberra Health Services that may require more support,” Ms Stephen-Smith said.
“Staff can complete a simple well-being assessment and then access immediate resources relevant to how they are feeling at that point in time,” she said.
“Information is anonymously shared with Canberra Health Services who can track how staff are feeling over a longer period.”
Ms Stephen-Smith said the information would assist CHS to implement more initiatives and programs that helped with staff burn out and promoted wellbeing.
She said the app was being rolled out in stages, starting with 500 licences to several different cohorts across CHS.
“This includes graduate nursing staff, a group who we know require more support and guidance as they begin their health careers,” the Minister for Health said.
“An additional 500 licences will be rolled out by the end of the year,” she said.
“Canberra Health Services will then evaluate the app’s usage and effectiveness before offering it to all staff members.”
Ms Stephen-Smith said the Well-being Index app was one of three co-designed health and wellbeing initiatives being implemented by CHS, with the other two a wellbeing peer support program and restorative wellness space, expected to be operational in April.
