Regional and rural communities across NSW are being encouraged to nominate to host the 2021 NSW Rural Women’s Gathering.
Deputy Director General of Engagement and Industry Assistance for the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI), Brett Fifield said Women’s Gatherings were a great opportunity for regional and rural communities to showcase their unique attractions to a new and diverse audience.
Mr Fifield said the Women’s Gathering weekends were organised by the host community for all rural women across the state, supported by guidance and training from NSW DPI’s Rural Women’s Network (RWN).
“Local committees make key decisions; develop a theme and the weekend program to reflect the culture, industry, tourism and environment unique to their community,” Mr Fifield said.
“Previous events have provided a real injection of funds and life into sometimes struggling communities,” he said.
Mr Fifield said Women’s Gatherings were for all rural and regional women.
“If you have a group of committed women, the capacity to host such an event and can demonstrate community support please read the NSW Rural Women’s Gathering Guidelines and then contact the RWN to register your interest and to receive the submission template,” he said.
He said the RWN would provide the successful Gathering Committee with a comprehensive event kit and face-to-face committee/governance training to help plan a successful event.
Mr Fifield said submissions to host the 2021 Gathering would close on 30 April.
