The Suburban Land Agency has released a new Guide to assist people in navigating its Affordable Home Purchase Scheme and ultimately to buy a new home.
The Agency said the Scheme assisted low-to-moderate income households by providing homes for purchase at affordable rates.
“The Affordable Home Purchase Guide will take you through the eligibility criteria, how to apply and will show you the different types of homes available under the Scheme,” the Agency said.
“The Scheme assists eligible households to gain entry into Canberra’s residential property market,” it said.
“Applicants must meet a set of eligibility criteria to buy a home through the Scheme.”
The Agency said applicants could be individuals or households; must be at least 18 years old; Australian residents; have never owned property; and their financial assets must fall below a set threshold.
It said the types of homes, and locations, available through the Scheme were varied in order to provide people with choices.
“The size of the homes and the numbers of bedrooms will vary,” it said.
The Agency said that during the registration process people would have an opportunity to indicate their preference for size and housing type.
