Bus numbers to meet high school demands

Adelaide Metro has announced that more buses are to be added to its school bus service for 2022 to cater for extra Years 7 and 8 public school students starting high school.

The Service said new school bus timetables would be available later this year.

It said the school bus service operated in addition to regular services and only students, teachers and parents or carers accompanying school students were permitted to travel on board.

It said primary and secondary students between five and 14 years of age could use a student metroCARD or MetroTicket on school services, just like on any other Adelaide Metro service.

It said students needed to remember their own and other students’ safety and personal space when travelling independently and should be aware of the service’s passenger behaviour and safety guidelines.

Adelaide Metro said passenger guidelines included: Leaving priority seating areas for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids; keeping noise to a minimum, including conversations, music and phone calls – use headphones instead of speakers; keeping bags and any other obstructions out of the way of other passengers; moving away from the bus, train and tram doors at stops and stations, so that people can get in and out; and helping keep things clean – take your rubbish with you or tell the driver if there is a spill.

Further information, including information on where to buy or recharge metroCARDs or where to find the nearest bike cage or bike locker, can be accessed at this PS News link and passenger behaviour and safety guidelines are available at this link.
