Booster a shot in the arm for teenagers

South Australian teens can now walk in or pre-book their COVID-19 booster shots following advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI).

Premier, Steven Marshall called on the State’s 16 and 17 year olds to roll up their sleeves and get boosted before their return to school today (14 February).

Mr Marshall said teens in this age bracket could get a booster if they had had their second dose three or more months ago.

“We have thousands of walk-in and pre-booked appointments available,” Mr Marshall said.

“And for those who may have started Year 12 this week – appointments are available before school, after school and on weekends.”

The Premier said that while over 60 per cent of eligible South Australians had already had their booster shot, he wanted this to increase further.

“You can walk into many of our clinics, including Wayville, Playford, Noarlunga, Kilkenny, Enfield, Adelaide (Myer Centre) and the Women’s and Children’s vaccination clinic, Port Augusta and Whyalla clinics,” he said.

“Booster shots are also being administered by our pharmacy network and GPs across the entire State.

“There really is no excuse to not have your all-important booster dose, it will protect yourself, your family, your school, workplace and the entire state.”
