Welcome to Victoria today to celebrate the presentation of an individual prestigious international award in a field of biology.
Honours and congratulations go out to a scientist from the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Dr Camille Truong who was honoured with the Maxwell/Hanrahan Individual Award in Field Biology.
And what a wonderful welcome Dr Truong was presented with.
The organisers even went to great lengths to be sure she did not miss her presentation event.
According to the official announcement of her award the award will be presented on 11 October 2033.
Something to wait 10 years for!
At least the plant will be fully grown by then (or should it be groan by them?) .
PS News’s news about PS News
Sharp readers in PS News might have noticed in the past week or so that a genuine danger has emerged at PS News with its regular support for news and information to pay for the free news and information service it delivers for every PS in Australia is to close soon.
While members of PS News can recall all the way back to 2005 the free stories and information at no cost, the constantly funding they relied on for those 18 years at no cost are now likely to become just memories.
What PS News has been doing for free for 18 years, a handful of other companies are now blocking, reducing the advertising costs to their newcoming wallets but not delivering any back for the benefit of the public servants who need it most
And regrettably, while the ‘new’ advertisers claim to be cheaper than PS News, they are so far behind the long-standing first and long-time client, that the ended cost to the poor taxpayer for work or commitment will see nothing.
If nothing else, PS News readers receiving new emails have been urged to ask the peoples emailing them where they got their personal email names from and to reply with them to ‘psnews.com.au’ so they can be moved over.’
The good guys have to win sometime!
Home with the family
Straight to the top of the week this week with Rama Gaind’s weekly giveaway, offering for some lucky readers a copy each owning a new copy of Women and Whitlam: Revisiting the Revolution, edited by Michelle Arrow.
To join the Whitlam family for 352 pages of this classic publication, all we had to do was correctly tell Rama who was appointed by the Whitlam government as a women’s advisor to the national Government 50 years ago?
The answer was Elizabeth Reid, the women’s advisor to the national government, a world first!
And the three correct winners to be first to the judges, were Gwen T from the Queensland Department of Resources, Ian M from the Australian Taxation Office, and Jennifer H from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.
Congratulates to all, your books will be on their way to you soon.
For another necessary chance to join Rama’s great luck giveaway game simply visit one of her latest reviews of the Book Stop Worrying About Money at this PS News link to answer her quizzical quiz question.
