If a relaxing and memorable holiday is just what you need right now, then turn your attention to Hervey Bay. In fact, one of the best places in Australia for whale watching, Mantra Hervey Bay, Fraser Coast, is the region’s only absolute marina front accommodation.
Here’s your chance to get up-close-and-personal and join a whale watching tour which leaves from outside the resort, taking you on the experience of a lifetime watching these majestic creatures migrate north.
Enjoy sweeping views over the marina and out to Fraser Island. It also offers direct access to the Great Sandy Strait.
What’s more, you don’t have to splash out a fortune to see the whales at play in Hervey Bay this year. Mantra Hervey Bay, situated near cruise departure points, has released a range of great value accommodation deals for visitors migrating to the Queensland coastal haven for this year’s whale watching season.
Renowned as the whale watching capital of Australia, Hervey Bay transforms into a heartland of humpback activity from now until October as thousands of giant humpback whales take time out from their annual migration in the calm waters of Hervey Bay.
With views over the Urangan Marina, there are some worthy accommodation prices on offer. They start from $117 per night for two people (Sunday–Thursday, minimum two-night stay – total cost $234).
Why not take the family and stay in a spacious two-bedroom dual key apartment from $217 per night for four people (Sunday–Thursday, minimum two-night stay – total cost $434). These offers also include a 10 per cent discount off whale watching tours, a bottle of wine on arrival and a whale watching gift pack.
Mantra Hervey Bay also offers a variety of leisure facilities on site, including an outdoor heated lagoon pool, children’s pool and easy access to the Urangan Marina, where fishing, diving and 4WD tours to Fraser Island are on offer.
Just moments from the resort is The Esplanade, the dining strip of Hervey Bay where a wide range of restaurants, bars and bistros offer everything from casual café-style meals through to a fine dining cuisine.
Sustainable Springfield Farm retreats
Here’s news of an exciting new retreat at Springfield Farm, in the Southern Highlands, where you get the chance to learn from experts about growing your own edible garden at home.
The latest retreat, ‘Home Grown: An Introduction to Permaculture’, is available from 28- 30 August and will allow attendees to explore a more sustainable and regenerative way of life. The retreat offers a ‘delicious’ weekend in the country for those who want a taste of permaculture through hands-on learning in the garden, gaining the needed skills to easily begin growing your own edible garden at home.
The Home Grown retreat is an invitation to participate in a ‘positive and empowering response to chaos and uncertainty – permaculture’. In its simplest form permaculture is a highly efficient way of growing your own food in harmony with nature – good for you and good for the planet.
Home Grown is a hands-on, practical skills-based weekend designed to teach guests how to grow their own food. Guests will be part of a small group, with their hands in the dirt during the day, whilst enjoying luxury accommodation and food direct from the garden prepared by Springfield’s Chef Eilish.
The workshops include an informative introduction to permaculture, with focus on practical implementation in the context of home gardens. Permaculture applies a systems thinking approach to sustainability based on indigenous and natural systems. Most of the time will be spent in the garden learning about seed raising, composting, and caring for a garden. Attendees will learn about the basic concepts of permaculture as they benefit from Farmer Pete’s 30 years experience as both an inspirational leader and a passionate hobby farmer. Home Grown is co-facilitated by Moss Vale Community Garden Guru, Jill Cockram.
Included in the package:
- All workshops and materials for lectures and learning
- Farm-to-table organic dining prepared by Michelin-trained Chef Eilish
- Luxury accommodation ranging from shared rooms to exclusive super king suites
Described as a place for ‘creativity, connection & community’, Springfield Farm is located just 1.5 hours drive from Sydney. It offers space to pause, rest and restore in the fresh country air.
You can also pencil in dates for the next Springfield Farm retreat that’s planned for 20-22 November.
