BANGLADESH

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wazed (pictured) has used the country’s Public Service Day to call for increased Public Service vigilance so that militancy, terrorism, corruption and drugs do not destroy society.

In an address to the Bangladesh Civil Service’s Law and Administration graduates, the Prime Minister urged officials not to see their service as merely a job.

“Work for the country as well as the people with dutifulness and patriotism,” Sheikh Hasina said.

The Prime Minister, who is also the Minister for Public Administration, called on her audience to be innovative, confident and equipped with the knowledge to bring development to people’s doorsteps.

“If someone loves the country and works with sincerity, they can take the country forward,” Sheikh Hasina said.

She said she hoped they would do their work with affection, authenticity, patriotism, dutifulness, and innovative ideas.

“Remember, this is not only your job,” Sheikh Hasina said.

“If you nurture the feelings of responsibility, patriotism, and affection for the country and its people, and have accountability in your mind, the country will surely prosper.”

She urged her audience to “work for your country and its people to make Bangladesh a developed country”.

“I believe you will do your duties properly,” Sheikh Hasina said.

The Prime Minister called on the new PS employees to cope with the constantly changing technology and environment at modern workplaces.

“The present world is changing constantly with the invention of new technologies,” Sheikh Hasina said.

“Many changes also occur at workplaces; you’ve got to catch up with it.”
