A psychological thriller set in Adelaide shows how hidden secrets have a way of wreaking havoc in one’s lives.
Bad Blood has a fairly good lineage, though. Directed by Pulbrook (The Last Dance, Division 4, Homicide), he co-wrote it with Patrick Edgeworth (who has written episodes for some Australian television icons like Homicide, Matlock Police, Blue Heelers, Neighbours, Chances.
In this case, Vincent (Xavier Samuel, A Few Best Men, Fury) is a successful crime novelist whose last book, Die Softly, was a huge hit, although it’s based in part on the unsolved murder of his wife two years before.
The only person seemingly not aware of this is his new girlfriend, veterinarian Carrie (Griffin, San Andreas, Charlie & Boots). As Vincent gets set to propose, he’s crushed by disturbing events that include an accusatory American private eye (Macpherson) who believes Vincent killed his wife, a homicidal doppelganger and a hooded figure at a book signing.
Fortunately, the couple can get away to a remote property, courtesy of agent Rose (Elena Carapetis). However, that doesn’t spell the end of their troubles.
