ACT Libraries has launched an ‘Audacious April’ of author talks and other attractions across the Territory’s libraries in the coming weeks.
Executive Branch Manager of Libraries ACT, Vanessa Little said the four author talks in April were an opportunity to hear from, and speak with, some outstanding contemporary writers.
“Barbara Toner (pictured) will be at Civic Library on Monday (8 April) to discuss her new book, Four Respectable Ladies Seek the Meaning of Wife, set in 1930 and featuring four women with different hopes and fears,” Ms Little said.
“Later that day Karen Viggers will be at Woden Library. As one of Canberra’s international bestselling authors she will talk about her latest book, The Orchardist’s Daughter, a story of belonging, friendship and finding the strength to break free.”
She that said on 15 April, Rosie Mackenzie would be at Civic Library. She was the author of The Homestead on the River, an historical fiction story about a family on the brink of losing everything, moving from Ireland to NSW for a fresh start.
“Jack Heath will be at the Gungahlin Library on 24 April to host a conversation about his second Timothy Blake novel, Hunter, the sequel to his breakout hit crime novel for adults, Hangman,” Ms Little said.
“The first school term of 2019 ends on 12 April, so Libraries ACT will be putting on a variety of great school holiday programs.”
She said these included STEM Story Time on 15 and 17 April and The Junior Robotics: Dodgem Cars program, a chance for kids to create and design their own remote control vehicle using LEGO Technic kits with help from experts. This would be held on 16 and 24 April.
