The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources has released a Global Resources Statement to promote the quality, strength and reliability of Australia as a leading supplier of resources and energy to the world.
The Department of Industry said the Statement, Australia’s Global Resources Statement: Reliable, Responsible, Ready for the Future, was the first milestone achieved under its Global Resources Strategy, part of a whole-of-Government effort to strengthen and diversify Australia’s trade relationships.
“Australia’s resources sector is strong, resilient and maintains its well-deserved reputation as a consistent supplier of energy and resources around the world,” Industry said
The Department said the Statement would promote Australia as a reliable and responsible global supplier to the world; strengthen resources exports and help secure new markets; support the resources sector to remain the world’s supplier of choice for major commodities; and prepare the sector for the future.
Minister for Resources, Keith Pitt said the Statement was a comprehensive overview of the strength and stability of Australia’s resources and energy sectors.
“It outlines opportunities for the sector to supply global markets as demand for major commodities and new energy technologies rebound from the COVID downturn,” Mr Pitt said.
“The Statement underlines how Australia is a world leader in iron ore, gold, coal, and LNG production and exports, as well as bauxite, nickel, manganese and other critical minerals exploration, with opportunities for further expansion,” he said.
