ACT public school teachers intend to continue assessing students during remote learning using a range of different strategies and tools.

The Education Directorate said assessments would be conducted in an age and stage appropriate way, and with awareness of the difficulty of the current circumstances.

“High quality assessment and reporting play an important role in every student’s learning journey,” the Directorate said.

“We know that ongoing assessment helps students improve and know what their next steps in learning should be,” it said.

“Teachers will be reporting at the end of the semester.”

It said that for Years 11 and 12 students, the ACT Scaling Test would not occur on 30 August and 1 September as originally planned, and had been postponed to 12-13 October by the Board of Senior Secondary Studies.

The Directorate said all ACT senior secondary students would have the opportunity to receive the ACT Senior Secondary Certificate and students working towards their ATAR would also have the opportunity to receive it for 2021.

“We understand that this is a difficult time and students and their families are adjusting to this new delivery of education,” it said.

“If you have concerns about your child or young person’s learning, please get in touch with their teacher in the first instance,” the Directorate said.
