Australians are to find it easier to stay sun-safe this summer with the launch of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency’s (ARPANSA) new website.
Chief Executive of ARPANSA, Gillian Hirth said the update was necessary to ensure the digital platform was running on current software and users were provided with an optimal experience.
“The ARPANSA website provides a range of information and resources to protect the health and safety of the public, workers and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation,” Dr Hirth said.
“To meet the obligations our Agency has to the Australian Government and people, it is essential that our digital tools are running on reliable and consistent platforms,” she said.
“Features of the site include a new ‘look and feel’ with modern touches to styling and branding.”
Dr Hirth said the update also provided access to real-time ultraviolet (UV) radiation index data, collected by ARPANSA’s network of UV detectors in cities around Australia.
She said the site featured a comprehensive library of fact sheets on issues related to radiation and health, including medical and occupational exposure.
“Popular fact sheets include the use of scalar energy products and exposure to mobile phones, magnetic fields and electrical sources,” she said.
