Canberra’s monthly celebration of 45s, LPs and other analogue music, Vinyl Lounge, delivered by the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is to make its online debut this Friday (1 May).

NFSA Curator and Vinyl Lounge MC, Thorsten Kaeding said that whilst NFSA doors were temporarily closed to the public, the NFSA was always open online.

Virtual Vinyl Lounge is the first event in the new NFSA Live suite of online programs,” Mr Kaeding said.

“You may not be able to come to Vinyl Lounge at the NFSA in Canberra, but that’s ok because we’re coming to you,” he said.

“Look through our record collection, select the track you want to listen to, send us a short video telling us what you love about it, and we’ll play it for you at Virtual Vinyl Lounge.”

Mr Keading said the new virtual edition would include socially distanced audience participation, with some of Vinyl Lounge’s regulars submitting their video requests for the live stream.

He said hundreds of hours of content from the NFSA collection were also available on the website and social media channels and NFSA would be sharing the collection with audiences via more special online events.
