The Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) is working to build stronger relationships between the Australian and Indian Public Sectors, with the launch of a new program.

Announcing its Engagement and Capability Uplift Program, APSC said the Program would encourage closer relationships between institutions, better professional networks and support of civil service economic reform programs.

It said the Program was for Australian and Indian regulatory officials and had three components, including senior level dialogue between groups of officers from both nations.

“These will help develop understanding between the two countries’ regulatory Agencies of each other’s operating environment and policy settings,” APSC said.

It said the Program also included secondment opportunities to regulatory Agencies, which would support the completion of projects valued by both nations, as well as a leadership and regulatory development pathway program.

The Commission said the pathway Program would be delivered by the APS Academy and would help participants to develop skills and knowledge of regulatory and leadership practices.

APSC said the Program formed part of the Update to the India Economic Strategy to 2035 and would support Australia’s ambition to develop shared understanding and trust in our institutions.

It said the Program also provided benefits to both countries by supporting stronger, more sustainable economic growth, as well as more secure and diversified supply chains.
