The date for submissions to the review of the Australian Public Service (APS) being chaired by former Telstra Chief, David Thodey (pictured), has been extended by two weeks.
Announcing the extension, Mr Thodey said submissions would now be accepted until midnight on Tuesday, 31 July.
Mr Thodey said the first batch of public submissions had already been published and he looked forward to receiving more.
“I want to thank the many people and organisations who have engaged with the review so far,” Mr Thodey said.
“We look forward to more insights from public and private sector organisations, and the many Australians who engage with government services in day-to-day life,” he said.
“It’s good to see contributions from Public Servants whose advice and counsel is vital to this review”
Mr Thodey announced that a reference group had been appointed to act as a ‘sounding board’ for the review panel
“This group has great experience and will be an important source of lessons learnt in Australia and around the world,” he said.
Among the members of the reference group are former Ministers Stephen Smith and Helen Coonan, a former State Premier, Mike Baird and former Deputy Secretary of Treasury, David Morgan.
Also in the group are senior public sector figures from the United Kingdom (Sir Gus O’Donnell), Singapore (Peter Ong Boon Kwee) and New Zealand (ANZSOG Chair, Peter Hughes).
Mr Thodey repeated his call for members of the APS to contribute to the review, encouraging them to think about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the APS: “What does the future look like? What expectations do you have?”
Submissions can be made on the review website which can be accessed at this PS News link.
