APS challenged to check report standards

Australian Public Service Departments and Agencies have been challenged to compare the standards of their reporting by entering the 2021 Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA).

In a statement, the ARA said the Awards were about the quality of an organisations reporting rather than its performance.

“Enter the 2021 Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA) to benchmark your report against best practice criteria with a Gold, Silver or Bronze Award if the report satisfied all or most of the criteria and have a chance to win a special ARA ‘Best of Sector Award’ – new this year,” the ARA said.

“These Awards are about how well you have reported about what happened to your organisation (e.g. its COVID impact story) rather than how well the organisation has performed,” it said.

“Join the many respected organisations that enter these Awards on a regular basis to ensure their annual report is maintaining a high standard, and the organisation is keeping up to date with regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations.”

The ARA said an important part of the Awards process was that entrants could arrange to have an educative feedback session on their report with an experienced ARA Adjudicator.

It said entrants would receive constructive feedback and sound advice to help them to prepare their next annual report.

Entries are open until 30 November and further information on the Awards, including how to enter, can be accessed at this PS News link.
