The Federal Government has called for Eden-Monaro community members to apply for grants of up to $10,000 to support community projects and facilities.
The Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal’s (FRRR) Strengthening Rural Communities program was implemented to support local organisations to uplift their communities following the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the government has invested $5 million over two years in the Rebuilding Regional Communities stream of the program.
The program is designed to enhance the process of recovery of remote, rural and regional communities; reduce social isolation and foster stronger, more resilient remote, rural and regional communities; and sustain local remote, rural and regional organisations and their work.
To that end, the government is encouraging local organisations in Eden-Monaro to apply for the grants to support liveability, sustainability, and resilience initiatives – from workshops and education programs that will increase community engagement, to equipment and facilities improvements at community hubs.
In the previous round of grants which were delivered last November, 55 local-led projects across the country shared in more than $470,000 in grants, including two in the Eden-Monaro centres of Bowning and Numeralla.
Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King said: “When we back local ideas and invest in local priorities, we get better outcomes in our communities, which is why we funded the Rebuilding Regional Communities stream – which is already investing in projects right across the country under previous rounds.
“These grants support regional, rural and remote organisations to expand their services, and are a key part of the Albanese Government’s continued commitment to activating regional economies.”

“Our regional areas are known for their strong sense of community, and we’re committed to strengthening this following the COVID-19 disruption, by improving community facilities and getting engaging workshops and education programs off the ground,” she said.
“We saw some fantastic projects supported in Eden-Monaro under this program’s most recent funding round, and grants of up to $10,000 are now on offer to help progress a range of community-led initiatives.”
