ACT Health has launched a new app to make checking in at venues and maintaining contact registers easier for supporting COVID-19 contact tracing.
Announced by the Minister for Health, Rachel Stephen-Smith, the app Check In CBR was developed to assist venue operators meet their contact tracing obligations under the Public Health Directions.
“Canberra’s local businesses have been co-operating really well with ACT Health, putting in place their COVID safety plans and doing what they can to protect the health and safety of their staff and customers,” Ms Stephen-Smith said.
“Most businesses have had to change the way they operate, and we know this has caused additional stress and administrative burden,” she said.
“The Check In CBR app will provide businesses with a convenient and secure option of capturing customer contact details.”
She said this would help businesses comply with the COVID-19 Public Health Direction, particularly the smaller businesses and organisations who are not able to invest in that type of technology.
Ms Stephen-Smith said the app would allow customers at participating venues to check in and provide their details for contact tracing by scanning a QR code or entering a six-digit code upon arrival.
“The contact information of app users will automatically be sent to ACT Health, for use by contact tracers if required and to assist in identifying anyone who may have been exposed to COVID-19 in the ACT,” the Minister said.
She said data from the app would be stored for 28 days and could only be accessed by ACT Health should contact tracing be required.
Ms Stephen-Smith said the Check In CBR app was available from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
