The Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) has postponed a number of its education programs amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
In a statement, ANZSOG said the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic had been felt across all sectors, and the importance of effective, evidence-based and transparent public management had never been more important.
“This impact has also been felt by ANZSOG as the rapidly evolving situation has made implementing a range of our education programs a complex ever-changing challenge,” ANZSOG said.
“We have now made the difficult decision to defer a number of foundation and executive leadership programs based on advice from our Government owners, the availability of program leads domestically and internationally, and acting on our responsibility to help arrest the potential spread of COVID-19.”
It said these deferred programs included the third annual First Peoples’ Public Administration conference, the Executive Fellows Program and the Towards Strategic Leadership Program.
Also affected were some subjects being delivered as part of this year’s Executive Master of Public Administration, international programs and a number of upcoming executive education and tailored learning workshops.
“Participants who had registered in these deferred programs will, of course, be able to retain their place in the program,” ANZSOG said.
“You will notice a number of ANZSOG programs now offer an expression of interest option,” it said.
“We encourage all current and future Public Sector leaders to consider filling out an expression of interest form.”
ANZSOG said it expected the programs would be running again when the situation stabilised
In the meantime the School will continue to progress a number of smaller tailored learning programs within Government Agencies.
It also announced a forthcoming research translation series to be launched on 25 March “providing the latest public administration and public policy publications relevant to the work of the Public Service”.
